My Brother you're wrong
Tim walked slowly down the alley. He smelled faintly of old liqour and sweat. His eyes were clouded by red haze and every few steps he would stumble. His clothes were dirty and torn and he could hear the laughter echoing behind him. He had nowhere to go and no one to tell him it would be alright. His stomach growled and he was so cold. Not even a fire could warm him. A tear slide down his grimy cheek, and he remembered.
He remembered his wife and little girl. The last time he saw them was when they kissed him bye. He was on his way to work, why did they have to die? The job was gone, his house was taken. No, it wasn't the taste of wine he remembered. He says," If only someone cared. If only someone would say it's ok."
If only someone had taken the time to intrduce Tim to Jesus. Who can save him?
How many times have you met Tim? How many times have you mocked him, laughed at him, and turned away from him? How many times did you offer to help him? How many times did you tell him about Jesus?
Matthew 5: 3-11
Blessed are the poor in Spirit,
For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit thre Earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteouness sake,
For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
Isiah 58: 9-10
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say," Here I am."
" If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul,
Then your light shall dawn in darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
Jesus came to us in a shelter for animals, He grew up a poor carpenter's son.
As a man, He healed the sick, fed the hungry, walked with sinners and forgave them.
His best friends were tax collectors and fishermen.
He used a murderer as His witness. He was mocked, beaten, denied, and cast aside.
He never turned anyone away. He touched the lepers and brought the dead back to life. He lived His life as a fugitive and was buried in a grave given by another man's charity.
Yet He gave His life to save ours. Even in death, His role is a servant.
Jesus never asked," What can you do for me?" but always asked," What can I do for you?" Would you call Tim poor in Spirit? Not only has he lost every material thing he had, but he has lost his Spirit of living. Is Tim mourning? Does Tim hunger and thirst for righteousness?
How can you call yourself righteous and not show mercy to all those around you?
If you don't show mercy to your fellow man, how can you be remembered as a Christian??
Lord, help me to see others through Your eyes. Remind me to love them and care for them as You did. Make me more like You.
Amen
